I feel that we as people have many objects close to us that we keep and hide away in our basements and cupboards and storage that collect dirt. These objects remain dormant only holding value from when we saw value in them. As people grow the things we value and need change and the objects we hold onto should be let go when we don't need them anymore. Using charcoal, I created this piece to show the passage of one time to the next. As the viewer is sitting inside the house looking out the doors to see the future ahead of them, they remain inside. This was to show the elusive reality that we don't want to acknowledge sometimes. It's okay to move on from objects and pass our minds on to next things because that is the only way we grow as people. The dim lighting and appearance of the room outside of the paper house are very quiet and nonsensical to any specific location. The viewer is meant to feel trapped and judged by the figure ahead of the house. Representing the struggle of letting go to proceed forward.
