This project required us to create 4 soap carvings and 2 soap trays around the concept of an oxymoron. I decided to use “Burn” as the element for the soap carvings, and “Freezer” for the ceramic aspect.
My original sketches and research were based around this idea of the youth and society's pressures on the youth and babies especially. The world creates products and designs specifically for babies and harmful things like tobacco products and electronics are marketed in such a way that is appealing to them. Many aspects of society have impacted youth, and as of January 2024, it was found that there were micro-plastics in the womb. Before children are even brought into the world they become products made to be bought and sold by the amount they consume from capitalist societies. I wanted to convey a baby that lay on the ground with burn damage, while it lay on a cold freezing surface with products around it. Concept was structured through my entire process.
