My ideas and interests expand how I define art as a system in motion – shaped by integrating math, science, and time into my work. I experiment with sequential rhythms and patterns of our everyday world that shift toward the abstraction, balancing structure with unpredictability. I am drawn to the organic, uncontrollable movements found in nature, as well as the unfiltered mannerisms of the human form. Through storytelling, I use these elements to shape the medium itself, allowing process and concept to build my vision.
One of my most recent projects was an attempt to connect myself to the idea that every bit of organic matter stems from one consciousness. This process was examined through a kinegram animation. The animation visualizes the process of cells and rhythm within a living system. The piece requires active viewing where the viewer must watch linearly as well as through. By moving backward and creating distance, the viewer is able to change their perspective. The animated shapes become alive. By moving forward, closer to the animation, the viewer is able to see the beating metronome that collides with structure and pulse at the same time.
My work showcases the fear I experience in the unpredictability of the present moment. A somber tone often underlies my pieces, carrying an unintentional sense of grief and bittersweet nostalgia where I find myself searching for an explanation. Fear is balanced by comfort in reflection. The subject matter often hints to the past, present, and future. Through time-based media, I immerse myself allowing space for personal discovery with mystery.
